What is NAFDAC e-license digitization? On a circular – TED/PFO/BNK/CON/01/053 dated 30 August 2019, the CBN announced NAFDAC e-permit on the Form M system. The circular is addressed to all authorized dealers, the Nigeria Customs and the public. The commencement of the NAFDAC’s e-permit is on the 9th September 2019. Thus, this means that NAFDAC Permit for import of commodities is now to be validated online like SON PC.
With NAFDAC e-license for Form M, many users and authorized dealer are worried. What will be of already issued NAFDAC permits? How do one process Form M going forward? Especially considering that the system only accepts electronic permits numbers. This challenge to using already issued permits is the reasons for this article. I am writing this article because it pains me when the public suffer for what they shouldn’t.

Before delving deep into this section, let me spare some fractions of time to explain something important. Some people might tend to think that NAFDAC importation permit or license is now applied and got online. No, that is not what is meant by NAFDAC e-license. Use of the term e-license does not eliminate normal manual sample taking and inspection by NAFDAC. What we mean by e-license in this case is the electronic version or the digitization of hard copy permit. In the circular sited in paragraph one above the CBN makes it clearer. Part of the circular reads “NAFDAC has integrated its e-Permit for NAFDAC regulated products with e-Form M…” Thus, the normal NAFDAC process for products registration or permit still applies.

CONCLUSION:
Before September 9 2019, holders of NAFDAC permits attached scan copies to obtain Form M. Currently, electronic version of NAFDAC permits and certificates are in use.
