SUPPLY CHAIN: QUOTATION FOR SHIPPING TO NIGERIA

In supply chain, making a quotation for a shipping job is a function of the role to be played, that which is to be quoted for. Therefore, what role does the importer want you to play as a Customs House Broker? Also, what is the contract for the shipping? Furthermore, are we talking about an Ex Works or a DAP kind of shipping terms for instance?

SUPPLY CHAIN: PURPOSE OF ARTICLE

This article will present a sample quotation for a cargo handling job for an ex work arrangement. In this example, the importer has said to the Agent; ‘hey’ look I am busy with other important matters. Of course, what the importer wants is cargo delivery at his warehouse. Further, the importer has allowed the Clearance Agent to take full charge of cargo from the supplier’s warehouse. However, the Agent lives in Nigeria and has no local presence at the origin of cargo or country of supply.  Hence, this means that the Cargo Clearance Agent would have to arrange for a freight Forwarder. Consequently, the Forwarder care of all export haulage, and export handling and clearance.

In summary:

This article shows that in supply chain the cargo Clearance Agent in Nigeria can take charge of your cargo right from the supplier’s warehouse to the final destination of your choice here in Nigeria. Finally, the quotation you receive from the agent depends on how much you want done for you. Instead of allowing your official duties to suffer as a result of chasing the cargo, why not allow the agent do the cargo for you.
