WHAT IS THE ROLE OF NIGERIA EXPORT PROMOTION COUNCIL?

The Nigeria Export Promotion Council plays the following roles in exports from Nigeria:

  • promotion, development and diversification of exports from Nigeria
  • Coordination and harmonization of export development and promotion activities in the country
  • take the lead in all national export programs
  • Interface with international trade agencies on cooperation and capacity building
  • issuance of Export Certificates

NIGERIA EXPORT PROMOTION COUNCIL: HOW TO REGISTER

Step 1. First of all, register your company with the Corporate Affairs Commission here. You must approach the Corporate Affairs Commission to register one of the following.

  1. Limited liability company
  2. Co-operative society
  3. Government and non-government organization
  4. Enterprise

Step 2. Similarly, click here to register your company with the Nigeria Export Promotion Council. Certainly, registration is easy because it can be done online from the comfort of your room. Furthermore, make sure you have scan copies of the following documents.

Limited liability Company.

  • Certificate of Incorporation
  • Certified True Copy of Memorandum and Articles of Association;
  • Current Certified True Copy of Form CAC 1.1 — “Section C” (Particulars of Directors) formerly known as Form C07 or Form CAC 7.

Co-operative society

  • Certificate of Registration (Issued by Issuing Authority in the State and F.C.T)
  • Bye Laws of the Society

Government and nongovernmental organization

  • Certificate of Registration
  • Constitution of the Government Organization and Non-Governmental Organization
  • Memorandum for Guidance of Applicant

Step 3. Also, do a market search; what do you want to export? Who is your market? What quantity does he want to buy of your products/services? More so, from which country does your buyer live? What is the means of conveyance, sea, air or road? Does the buyer need certain packaging or pre-processing of the goods? Most noteworthy, what is the overall cost implication? Finally, do you need other governmental regulatory agency such as NAFDAC or SON certification? Certainly, almost all of these questions can be answered online.

Step 5. Make sure of documentation required. The following documents are usually required by the Nigeria Export Promotion Council:

-PRICE VERIFICATION SYSTEM (PVS)
-SON PC/SONCAP PROCESSING
-FORM M AND PAAR PROCESSING
-INVOICE, CCVO, PACKING LIST, AND OTHER DOCS
-PICKUP AND SHIPPING
-SEAFRIEGHT CLEARANCE AND DELIVERY TO FINAL DESTINATION
-AIR CARGO CLEARANCE AND DELIVERY

  • Pro forma invoice
  • Commercial invoice
  • Packing list
  • Product certification or test result
  • A completed Form NXP issued by Nigerian Custom Service

Step 6. What risks? Hence, research the process through and be sure you know all risks involved. Consequently, know the risks mitigation strategies.
